How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?
HSA/FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.
Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you’re getting more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in root cause interventions.
Who is Truemed?
At Truemed, we believe that investing in your health is far more valuable than waiting to spend on sickness. By unlocking pre-tax HSA/FSA spend on research backed interventions such as fitness, supplements, and health technology, we’re shifting healthcare spend toward true medicine.
Common Questions
-
Truemed is a payment platform that connects your pre-tax HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) funds to purchases that qualify as medically necessary. Through a clinical intake form reviewed by an independent, licensed clinician, Truemed determines whether your purchase qualifies and issues a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to support your payment or reimbursement.
Eligible product categories include fitness equipment, supplements, sleep products, recovery tools, health tech, and more — purchased from Truemed partner brands.

Post-purchase (Reimbursements): Pay with a credit or debit card, then submit for reimbursement from your HSA/FSA account.
Step 1: Complete the Health Intake
Complete a brief telehealth intake ($20 fee) and, if approved (~99% of those who reach the payment screen), receive a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) within 6 hours.
Step 2: Receive Your Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN)
After you submit the intake, an independent, licensed clinician reviews your information. If your purchase qualifies:
You receive an email notification that your LMN is ready
Log in to your Truemed dashboard to access and download your LMN
Your LMN is valid for 12 months from the date of issue and covers eligible purchases from the qualifying merchant
If your purchase does not qualify, you will be notified of the outcome.
Step 3: Make your purchase
Determine what Membership you would like to purchase and complete the checkout process as using a credit or debit card.
Step 4: Reimburse with HSA/FSA
Submit your LMN along with your receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator to reimburse yourself from your account.

A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document issued by an independent, licensed clinician that confirms a specific purchase is medically necessary for your health condition. It is what makes your purchase eligible for HSA/FSA payment or reimbursement.
Your LMN includes:
A clinician’s determination of medical necessity
The specific product or product category covered
The validity period (typically 12 months)
When your LMN is ready, you’ll receive an email notification. Log in to your Truemed dashboard to access and download it. For more detail on LMNs, see What is an LMN?.
